"O carro e o home" zuri-beltzeko film dokumentala da, Antonio Fernández-Románek zuzendua eta Xaquín Lorenzo eta Román beraren artean gidoilatua. Jatorriz 1940an filmatu eta 1945ean estreinatu zen. Filmak kultura galegoan eta, oro har, kultura atlantiko gehienetan sustraitutako lanabes landatar baten ikuspegi antropologikoa proposatzen du: idi-gurdia, gurdi txilibitua ere esaten zaiona.

Bitxia bada ere, filmaketa amaitu ondoren, filma mutu geratu zen, gaur arte soinurik atera gabe.2020an, Xabier Erkiziak bere lehen film luzea aurkeztu zuen, O Gemer izenekoa. Ardatz mugikorreko orgen zaratari eta azken 5000 urteetan mundu osoan izan duten presentziari buruzko kontakizuna. Fdez-Roman eta Lorenzoren filmak ez bezala, azken honek soinua hartzen du abiapuntutzat, eta irudia bigarren mailako plano batera eramaten du, uneka abstraktura.

Ariketa berri honek, izenburutik iradokitzen duen bezala, zubi ikusezin bat eraiki nahi du bi filmen eta bi begirada hauen artean: memoriarena eta zaratarena.

"O carro e o home" es una película documental en blanco y negro dirigida por Antonio Fernández-Román y guionizada entre Xaquín Lorenzo y el propio Román. Fue rodada originalmente en 1940 y estrenada en 1945. La película propone una visión antropológica de uno de los útiles rurales mas enraizados en la cultura galega y en general, en la mayoría de culturas atlánticas: el carro de bueyes, también conocido como carro chillón. 

Curiosamente, una vez finalizado el rodaje, la película quedó muda, sin sonorizar hasta hoy.

En el año 2020, Xabier Erkizia presentó su, hasta ahora primer y único largometraje, llamado O Gemer. Un relato sobre el ruido de los carros de eje móvil y su presencia en todo el mundo durante los últimos 5000 años. Al contrario que la película de Fdez-Román y Lorenzo, esta última, toma como punto de partida el sonido, llevando la imagen a un plano secundario, por momentos abstracto.

Este nuevo ejercicio, tal y como insinúa desde el título pretende tender un puente invisible entre las dos películas, y las dos miradas a través de las que fueron construidas: la de la memoria y la del ruido.

"O carro e o home" is a black and white documentary film directed by Antonio Fernández-Román and scripted by Xaquín Lorenzo and Román himself. It was originally filmed in 1940 and released in 1945. The film proposes an anthropological vision of one of the rural tools most deeply rooted in Galician culture and in general, in most Atlantic cultures: the oxcart, also known as the squeaky cart. 

Curiously, once filming was completed, the film remained silent, without sound until today.

In 2020, Xabier Erkizia presented his, so far first and only feature film, called O Gemer. A story about the noise of moving axle cars and their presence around the world during the last 5000 years. Unlike Fdez-Román and Lorenzo's film, the latter takes sound as its starting point, taking the image to a secondary level, at times abstract.

This new exercise, as the title suggests, aims to build an invisible bridge between the two films, and the two perspectives through which they were constructed: that of memory and that of noise.
